My Pilates Story

Emily's training in The Pilates Method started in 2015 after a serious ankle injury from dance, where she learned to utilize the form as a rehabilitative tool and complimentary strengthening practice to enhance her dance training. She continued training as a student in The Pilates Method for the next two and a half years while finishing up her college degrees at the University of California, Irvine. Emily decided to pursue Pilates as an instructor and enrolled in Studio Du Corps' Pilates Teacher Training Program in Summer 2017, located in Costa Mesa, CA. Under the direction of Diane Diefenderfer and Barbra Abell, Emily completed 450 hours of lecture, instruction, demonstration and individual practice of The Pilates Method, based on the Classical form of Joseph Pilates and the influences of his pupil’s Ron Fletcher and Romana Kryzanowska. After completing her teacher training in December 2017, she moved to New York City where she started working as a Private Pilates Instructor and Group Fitness Instructor for various private studios. 

Emily has expanded her abilities as an instructor through various additional training programs, including a 200-hr Yoga Teaching Certification, a Barre Fitness Certification and is a CA State Certified Dance Teacher. Her experience working with a variety of  clientele includes the following: women pre-/post-natal, clients with issues of scoliosis and other back conditions, individuals with physical injuries or hindrances, professional and amateur athletes looking for conditional training and many others looking to strengthen their bodies and improve flexibility. All of Emily's clients require different needs in the training process and have enabled her to grow her knowledge and experience exponentially.
